A really helpful article, thanks. I observe that often it is boys who indulge in weapons play and female adult teachers who can sometimes find this challenging. There was plenty of weapons play in my boyhood and I did not grow up to be a psychopath. I think there can be a temptation to project adult sensibilities regarding our views on violence, onto children's innocent and imaginative play. As the article very clearly states, no one is condoning violence. In attempting to shut any potential weapons play down, we could be limiting children's development, creativity and fun!

Interesting article. I try hard to advocate for not banning it in my school. Does this link closely with rough and tumble type play?
