Fantastic article. The issue is that sometimes educators struggle to undetstand the point. It's 8 or 80 per say! I don't think there is anything wrong with making Christmas cards, or fireworks paintings, or Diwali crafts... what I think is non sense is to do them instead of the children and making them all look the same! Also we can choose drawings and paintings that children can do, model and then let them do their thing. Because if we set the goal to draw Santa, well we can be setting up children for failure but on the other hand challenge allow progress so yes it's a matter of allowing freedom of expression and possibilities but I always say, the adult does his own and doesn t touch the children's 'artwork'.

This is because I've witnessed that at times when we tried to bsn the worksheets, teachers felt lost and not knowing what to do. They would stop using them but then wouldn't do anything. "You said we can't do Christmas cards!". Again it can be trick so I think these articles are precious in hdlping us explain why we do what we do. For parents but slso for teachers.
